To make passengers feel safe to fly again, we know that airlines are not only concerned about how a material performs, but also how well it cleans, how long it will last, and what to do with that material once it’s reached its useful life. We’re hard at work developing new products and spearheading value-added initiatives that will contribute to the well-being of the post-COVID aircraft interiors passenger experience. These are some of our new areas of focus, products, and services.
Advanced and frequent methods for cleaning the aircraft interior between flights, including ultra-violet (UV) disinfection and electrostatic spraying are being used more widespread. New 9815N was specially formulated to withstand these stringent cleaning practices. Available in a wide range of design options, such as prints, pearlescents and textures, we want to make sure you don’t have to compromise design for cleanability.

We’re also developing anti-microbial and anti-viral additive and coating solutions for our wide range of material grades.
Middle seat and row dividers can provide a varying range of transparency and advanced cleanability, protecting passengers from others. To meet this need, we’ve developed a new thermoformable clear material that meets the FAR regulations for flammability and impact resistance, Boltaron® 4355. This material has extreme chemical resistance, so it can be cleaned repeatedly and will maintain its excellent appearance.

These custom-built material and texture models are optimized for software programs KeyShot®, V-Ray®, OctaneRender®, Adobe® Photoshop®, and others.
We’re also working on more digital tools and platforms to make it easier to meet, design, engineer, and learn about materials from your home office, wherever you are in the world.
Designing to meet cleanability standards within the aircraft interior, doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice aesthetics. Printed textures and patterns with protective layers are just some of the many possibilities. We’re working to show designers how you can use unique effects like colors, metallics, and translucents and textures to demonstrate the cleanliness of a material.
Our capabilities also make it possible to print or form important passenger safety graphics onto the material.
